Expect smoke in Budapest this week – here are the details
In the middle section of the M3 metro line, Arany János Street and Nyugati Railway Station, which are under renovation, the heat and smoke extraction system will be tested in January 2023, said BKV Zrt. The purpose of the tests is to verify the effective operation of the new equipment. Here are the details.
During the three-week test series, smoke can be expected to be emitted from the metro’s ventilation outlets several times a day, 444.hu reports. The combustion products produced have no harmful effects on health, either in the designated safety zones of the stations or in the vicinity of the surface smoke outlets. Smoke tests will be carried out at weekends and on weekdays between 8 AM and 7 PM. Information on the locations and times of the smoke tests will be kept available by BKV Zrt.
The first smoke test took place at the Arany János Street metro station on 14-15 January 2023 (Saturday-Sunday) between 8 AM and 7 PM and will take place on 20 January 20 (Friday) between 8 AM and 7 PM. During this time, smoke can be experienced in the section between Deák Ferenc Square and Nyugati pályaudvar stations.
